GenPlay Youth Sport Report
Research Participation Terms & Consent Statement
GenPlay Research is conducted by PlayerScout®
1. About the Research
The GenPlay Youth Sport Report is an independent global research initiative conducted by PlayerScout®, bringing together the experiences and perspectives of young athletes, parents, coaches, clubs, academies, schools and sport organisations.
Our aim is to better understand what helps young people thrive in sport, the challenges affecting their development and participation, and the factors that contribute to young people leaving sport.
The findings will help identify opportunities to improve youth sport development, accessibility, inclusion and long-term participation across different sports and countries.
2. Voluntary Participation
Participation in GenPlay is entirely voluntary.
By taking part, you agree to complete an online questionnaire about your experiences, opinions and involvement in youth sport.
You may skip optional questions or leave the survey at any time before submitting your responses, without penalty or disadvantage.
Some questions may involve personal experiences or challenges. You are not required to answer optional questions that make you uncomfortable.
Your decision to participate will not affect your relationship with PlayerScout® or your access to its publicly available resources.
3. Information We Collect
To conduct the research, PlayerScout® may collect:
-
Your name and email address.
-
Your country and sport.
-
Your age or age category, where relevant.
-
Your role within youth sport.
-
Your responses to research questions.
-
Information required to record your consent and, where applicable, parental or guardian authorisation.
This information enables us to understand the experiences of different participant groups and produce meaningful research findings.
We ask participants not to include unnecessary identifying information about other individuals in their answers.
Where survey questions involve sensitive personal information, additional processing protections or consent may be required under applicable law.
4. How Your Information Will Be Used
Information collected through GenPlay will support PlayerScout® research and reporting activities.
This includes:
-
Analysing experiences, trends and challenges across youth sport.
-
Identifying factors affecting participation, progression and retention.

-
Producing the GenPlay Youth Sport Report and related research insights.
-
Informing future youth sport research, educational resources and development initiatives.
Research findings may be shared publicly with players, parents, coaches, clubs, sport organisations and the wider sporting community.
Published findings will use aggregated statistics, anonymised insights and non-identifying summaries.
Your name, email address and other information that could reasonably identify you will not be published in research findings without your separate permission.
PlayerScout® will take reasonable measures to prevent individuals being identified indirectly through small reporting groups or detailed survey responses.
5. Privacy, Confidentiality & Data Protection
PlayerScout® is committed to protecting the privacy and personal information of everyone contributing to GenPlay, with additional safeguards for children and young people.
Personal information will be:
